How the memory of interactions at work makes cooperation complex

چکیده

Cooperation in work settings goes through communicative interactions where colleagues need to reach a certain level of mutual understanding for coordinating their actions or finding negotiated decisions. Mutual understanding is complex because of the heterogeneity of the participants which makes the interpretations uncertain and unpredictable. We argue here that chronic cooperation is still more complex because the memory of the previous cooperative interactions is an additional source of difference between the cognitive contexts of the participants. We studied the memory of cooperative interactions in four different collaborative work settings. The analysis indicates a massive forgetting of the verbal content and a greater remembering of the relational positionings, interactional structures and emotions.

Selective Binding of Cyclic Nanopeptide with Halides and Ion Pairs; a DFT-D3 Study

In this article, theoretical studies on the selective complexation of the halide ions (F¯, Cl¯ and Br¯) and ion pairs (Na+F¯, Na+Cl¯ and Na+Br¯) with the cyclic nano-hexapeptide (CP) composed of L-proline have been performed in the gas phase. In order to calculate the dispersion interaction energies of the CP and ions, DFT-D3 calculations at the M05-2X-D3/6-31G(d) level was employed. Based on t...

Comparing reactive and memory-one strategies of direct reciprocity.

Direct reciprocity is a mechanism for the evolution of cooperation based on repeated interactions. When individuals meet repeatedly, they can use conditional strategies to enforce cooperative outcomes that would not be feasible in one-shot social dilemmas. Direct reciprocity requires that individuals keep track of their past interactions and find the right response. However, there are natural b...

Investigation of the effect of unusual work shifts and sleep deprivation on cognitive performance in workers in the automotive industry

Background and aims: The circadian rhythm is one the most important biological rhythms that regulates the sleep-wake cycle and repeats every 24 hours roughly. This 24-hour cycle includes physiological and behavioral rhythms like sleep cycle. Any disruptions in the body’s natural rhythms can cause many problems, such as drowsiness, sleep deprivation, reduced physical activity, and mental functio...

The dose of the Threat Makes the Resistance for Cooperation

We propose to reformulate the payoff matrix structure of Prisoner’s Dilemma Game, by introducing threat and greed factors, and show their effect on the co-evolution of memory and cooperation. Our findings are as follows. (i) Memory protects cooperation. (ii) To our surprise, greater memory size is unfavorable to evolutionary success when there is no threat. In the absence of threat, subsequent ...
